Offensive use of umbrellas at the Racecourse?

*You Couldn’t Make It Up*

Wheelchair users at Wrexham are not allowed to use umbrellas when it rains because of concerns if they don’t use them as weapons, others might grab them & use offensively

Advised fans to ask for copy of risk assessment that concluded this

Wouldn't surprise me in this climate that we live in.

Lots of things can be used as weapons in the wrong hands. If someone takes the umbrella and uses it as a weapon then you deal with it at that stage by arresting the offender (not just filming them). As an aside my son, a type 1 diabetic, a regular at the Racecourse used to carry enough insulin in his insulin pen to kill a person if it fell into the wrong hands. Where do you draw the line ?

Quite right too, John Steed in the Avengers TV series was always using his brolly as an offensive weapon. They'll be banning bowler hats next.

Let's be frank. This should take about 10 seconds to resolve. A bit of common sense is all that's needed.

Next they’ll be banning wheelchairs as they could be as a weapon!!!

Crazy decision.
