Default Re: Wales victory sheild squad

My lad played in the Cymru cup north squad a couple of years back.

They just pick the best lads from across the welsh academies and pro clubs and group them in whichever region they choose. My lads squad had lads from Newcastle, Crewe, Stoke, Port Vale, Wrexham and Everton as well as Bangor, Flint, Airbus and Llandudno.
A few of his Wrexham team mates played in the Central wales squad, and I’m sure that a lad from Liverpool played in the South squad.

How it used to be done, how you wrongly claim it's still done.

Your 'mate' in the Welsh camp is wrong, finger on the pulse at Wrexham.

There are 2 tiers or 2 routes to playing in the shield.

Tier 1s are chosen from clubs like Wrexham, Liverpool etc

Tier 2s are comprised from Welsh Premier academies. Academy clubs put forward a number of players to take part in regional squads.

Separate training takes place every half term. Wrexham had around 4-6 players in the Tier 1 regional squad but only 1 was chosen out of the best players in Wales to be in the combined squad. Reckon that’s pretty good if you ask me.

The reason why there’s so many Welsh premier academy players is because that’s a different route to a national squad. The idea being some players not at professional clubs get missed and so this provides them opportunities to step up from tier2 to tier1.
This is exactly what happened with Caio, he was with the tier 2 squad, impressed, stepped up to tier1 and was scouted by Wrexham who signed him.

Hope that makes sense
The cymru cup comes into play after these tiers, it comprises of lads from both tiers hence the mix of clubs involved from amatuer to huge clubs in the game. This tournament is then used to whittle the squad down to form a Wales U15's squad.

What Jonesfach was saying is these lads for this competition are solely from clubs in the Welsh system which used to be the case and no longer is due to the reasons you state above.

So I'm not sure how you can claim I don't know what I'm talking about.

It still highlights how bad things are, as from what I understand no quotas exist on how many must come from a Welsh premier academy.

Or are you trying to say we shouldn't even be competing with Chester to have more lads in the squad? It shows somethings amiss surely.

Hopefully when Colliers is complete we will see more youngsters being snapped up by ourselves and hopefully we will be able to utilise this for our own academy especially if we can get promoted.

Was chatting to a friend at work who told me his grandson age 12/13 who I think plays for Connahs Quay Nomads academy has been selected for coaching with Swansea City FC once a month I think they use Airbus ground. Not sure how this set up works does anyone have any info?

It was the case in the past, it isn't anymore.
This would seem to confirm that jonesfach’s friend is pretty clueless.

My points still stand regardless, Chester have two lads to our one, these lads have been identified as the best Welsh talents in their age group. A English club a division below and fierce rival having one more talent than us, well I'm embarrassed, you obviously not.

Anything to try and protect your mate from criticism.
The issue here isn't that the likes of Chester have more talent than us, its the fact they have more 'Welsh' talent.

A lot of the youngsters at our academy come from the Wirral and beyond. Due to restrictions on travel time, we only have access to half the amount of Welsh talent as someone like Bala as half our catchment area is in England.

I also notice that our academy regularly beat the other WPL academies and if a Welsh lad locally at a WPL academy is good enough, they are usually offered a trial.
