If he does go to Shrewsbury, lets make it quick so that we can get a replacement sorted.
surely conference to league 1 is a great promotion.

I agree it's a great promotion. I guess it could be looked at that Shrewsbury aren't the biggest of clubs at that level? It would be quite difficult to take them much further ?

The narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship last season by finishing third then losing the play off final in extra time.

I'd argue they're a good team for a young manager to make a name for himself at.

If Sam stays, we could be above Shrewsbury in 12 months time...

if you were manager of Sunderland, say, I would agree. But if you are managing in the conference, then a league 1 club who can go no further is still a dream move.

I would love it, absolutely love it, if that was the case.

Yep they did, but it could also be argued that they achieved beyond expectations and beyond their means. Not massive crowds, not a huge financial backer (that I am aware of but prepared to be corrected!!!). Are the play offs a realistic prospect for them every season? If they got promoted would they be a seesaw team? In my view they are a team who are as likely to be lower league 1 as they are fighting for promotion regularly.

Again i agree its a good move but not a dream move. For a manager to noticed in the championship or premier league they need to be making noises in league 1, not treading water in my view.

They also have an ambitious local chairman, the owner of a multi-million pound business.
