Default Train Situation Saturday

Glad I saw this as I was gonna jump on the 2 o clock from Hawarden..so anyone travelling from Deeside its the 1 o clock only or 11 for the early birds...

Wrexham Central - Bidston

Between 06:00 and 18:30, trains will run every 2 hours, departing Wrexham Central at 07:32, 09:32, 11:32, 13:32, 15:32 & 17:45 and then services will run to the normal timetable.

Services will depart Bidston at 08:32, 10:32, 12:32, 14:32, 16:32 & 18:45 and then services will run to the normal timetable.

Replacement road transport will also run in place of cancelled services.

Thanks for that , it was the same for me last home game , 13.32 from Bidston cancelled , replacement bus driver said bus would get to Wrexham 15.15 , no good to me.
I got the next train to Hamilton Square , changed for Chester (all on my bus pass) , Maesteg train to Wrexham , saved 50p on my normal fare , every cloud has a silver lining. Did the reverse on the way back.
Not too bad.

One of my warmest and long standing memories is getting the early steam train from Shotton in the late 1950s and collecting autographs outside the players entrance.
On arrival back on Deeside I would have to buy a 'Football Pink' for my Dad.
Very happy days.

Cheers for that. Standing at PYF station waiting for a non existent train would of been a downer! 🙄

Making me melancholy Bill....Just about remember seeing the steam trains pulling into Wrexham Exchange, as we walked down Crispin Lane to the Kop turnstiles....
Travelled that line a few times as a kid to Seacombe..Then ferry to Liverpool and back to New Brighton then Seaombe again...
Have to admit though. My favourite journey was Ruabon to Barmouth....Into the depths of Wales, emerging out into the blue seas and golden sands of the coast....

Similar I suppose to how kids feel flying to Florida today...

The stop press was stencil typed in a little office off Lord Street. An ink roller was used 'ink over' the stencil onto the blank column of the Pink Echo. Papers then kept dry to prevent any running of said ink. Late Racing results also done the same way.

The Pink Echo was stencilled in Wrexham and there was the Evening Sentinel which covered Wrexham, Vale, Stoke, Oswestry etc etc.

Both papers were then sold on the streets - including the corner of King Street by the bus station. (Lost Wrexham)
