I think it was only about 12 months ago he last played - said to me his knees were playing up and so guess he had retired.

Typical of him he even posted a message, he would meet us down in WSM, in wetherspoons. Didn't see him but thought I had just not bumped into him. A Reds fan to the core and not a bad bone in his body. Loved talking lower league football.

Very,very sad news,only a few weeks ago he posted a get well message to me as i was very ill,oh my god i cant beleive this,RIP Sarge
