Lack of ball retention in the midfield prevents us supporting.

IMO a 442 would be better and with the right players provide better width.
I dont think we have the right players for a 433 and I also dont think its the format to win this league. Better teams have 2 forwards in partnerships.
If we go 442 (which I am not against) then the two forwards are surely Beavon and Grant ?

352 is just 532 with wing backs.
Its more complicated especially at this level.
433 is good and you can see at Liverpool it needs the front 3 to play a pressing game to keep the opposition on the back foot.
IMO we dont have the right players. Thats why I think 442.
Grant could play as an attacking midfielder in this formation.

Its preferences though but more importantly the right players for the formation as wrong players shoehorned into a formation doesnt work.

Agree. With Fondop and Pyke in reserve.
Then comes the question of the Midfield. I guess Summerfield is a cert. But who to drop out of Walker and Young as both have their pros and cons?

And wingers? JMD should thrive in that system, and I guess the only other option is Rutherford.

Not with the personnel we have at present.
We only had success with that formation when we had the 2 Edwards' marauding back and forth, players with the fitness and pace to do so.

Jennings, Roberts or Carrington just don't fit the bill IMO.

Cant see JMD fitting into any formation with his application.
Grant would be a better option. Ruthers OK as LM but has to improve consistency and delivery.

You should be advising Ryan Giggs.

Should, could, would. Yep probability and possibility but achieve absolutely fk all without the basic application

Hardly a surprise his chances have become fewer under Sam.
