I have re-read your post as you suggested, it still reads the same. The inference is that the board knew some weeks ago, which is incorrect. |

Re: Big Den?
I heard from a source on Thursday that he was off. That same source said it was Lawerence in to replace him and he'd seen a game. Could be a coincidence that he'd seen a game or they'd known Ricketts was off and had got Lawerence in to look

Whether he is the choice is obviously unknown. I think the protestations from Sam the previous 10 days will have set some alarm bells ringing. |

Re: Big Den?
How would we all feel if the board had not prepared for what was an increasingly obvious situation ? My experience in business is that you always have to be in possession of a backup plan. Anyone with half a brain cell could see that the political responses from SR to the question of Shrewsbury were far from sufficient. If he had used terms like 'finish the job' that GB used then all speculation would have ended.

Re: Big Den?
Thanks Krux. For me, Askey’s track record (taking Macc from 20th to 23rd in old Third Division during his first spell there, losing 4 out of his first 5 games during his second spell and consistently missing out on playoffs until last year’s undoubtedly impressive title win, and 5 wins out of 21 at the Slops) makes me doubt he’s likely to take us up this year. Personally, I’ve been arguing for long-term planning for a long time and would be ok with him taking a few seasons to build a squad capable of winning this league and competing in the one above (hopefully unlike the Macclesfield one which has proven to be far too weak for League Two); however a lot of our fans are generally insistent that promotion is by far the most urgent matter and for me, there’s little in his track record to suggest he could hit the ground running here.
