I get what you’re saying, loyalty to family etc. How’s this for a scenario though. Local competitor comes and offers you the big bucks. Mid way through your first season, when really you have proven absolutely nothing, despite being at a big club, which admittedly has fallen on hard times. The way you did it was deceitful, and not at all in good faith, in fact there is suspicion you were illegally approached, something that’s going to be aired for all to see. You’re already a millionaire, so don’t really need the cash of that pay rise anyway. Six months later, you don’t make the grade, the bigger competitor, already at the peak of their potential, but with unrealistic expectations, sack you. You’re now a manager with a pretty chequered past, a history of being untrustworthy, you’ve soured your reputation in the game, particularly in Wales, an area you have historically been held in high esteem by. 5 years later, Sam who? Sorry mate, no jobs here.

Compare to, taking a sleeping giant, back in to the league, then building on that success to make them back in to the lower league powerhouse they traditionally were, a few years later, maybe even a premiership club comes calling given your previous playing history. Your name is gold in the game, you keep that reputation as a top bloke, let the good times roll. Including for your family.

Like everyone today, it’s a short term mindset that will come back to bite him on the arse. It always does.

No luck to Sam from me if this is all true, as far as I’m concerned the board should get security to escort him out in case he nicks something.

As a manager, if you don’t get results, you are sacked (whatever your contract says) and conversely, if you shine, more affluent clubs will attempt to prise you away. These behaviours are not good, but it’s the way that the game has gone. Sam Ricketts was never going to stay here for long (18 months), it’s just unfortunate that he hadn’t achieved promotion with us first.
This is how today’s managers operate, and is the way of the world.

Surely he should have communicated to the fans that there would be no signings in Jan then as he has always maintained he would improve the team if better players became available. He must have had budget to do this.

Can you imagine the sh*tstorm? You only have to look at the who'le saga and trying to keep things underwraps, using those ' in the know' it seems to do the dirty work.

Sometimes best saying nothing, he couldn't exactly do a Mourinho and publicly critises with his stature in the game.

Agree. It’s not so much what he has done, but how he has seemingly gone about it.
