Default Police operation on Mold Road

Anyone have any ideas why supporters leaving the Hays stand were subject to 'filtering' by the police.

I could understand blocking the road so that the supporters didn't mix but you were funnelled into a narrow gap and then let through. It seemed a strange thing to do.

The Police have to do something to justify the overtime and dressing up as Robocop. We need to work with the police and would be in shit street without them but in matters relating to Wrexham FC they have got things seriously wrong.

Whilst I agree the funnelling seemed strange last night unfortunately the way the police deal with our matches is very much affected by the idiots who throw flares and now some suggestion of Newport coaches getting damaged. I went to Chesterfield away and whilst our overall support was magnificent the small number of mindless idiots spoilt it so much that sadly I am doubtful about attending any future away matches.

Speaking to a copper mate in The Met and he says that smaller forces use things like football matches as a chance to practice operational stuff.
Annoying for those being inconvenienced but makes sense I suppose.

I would imagine an associated regular police / millitary tactic - filtering equates to closer crowd control. It slows people down and as the minutes tick by it gives more time for people to disperse in a more orderly way.

The greater the expanse the more people you need to monitor and control.

Can't complain - it worked a treat and everyone went home safe.

I heard Newport brought 6 supporters coaches so over 300 of their fans would have been whisked away on the coaches with a small number of other County fans to disperse into the night.

Walked up through the town pre and post match - thought the police presence along Mold Road was very thin but it takes two sides to have a ruck - and nothing from Newport about.

Heaven help us if we had crowds of 20,000 these days, there'd be about 18,000 police there

From the Daily Post website..............

A North Wales Police spokesman said: "A carefully planned operation ensured the match passed off without major incident. Unfortunately two home fans were arrested, one for assault and one for throwing a flare. They will be dealt with.

As you say Red Light it worked a treat.

The only inconvenience was having to walk about ten yards further than normal to get through the filter. I'm not he greatest fan of the NWP but the officers (don't they look young nowadays) in the line were friendly and engaging with the fans, none in Robocop gear either.

Saw four Newport coaches come out of the college under Police escort, seems the operation went well until they reached Rhostyllen if that's where the window was smashed.
