I would be wondering about sacking an experienced NL manager and replacing him with one with 4 months. LOL.

Clubs in the premiership and championship have employed managers with zero managerial experience at any level.

Yep - just look recently at Henry, was doing punditry and assistant at Belgium then suddenly got such a high profile job with Moanco - Neville was similar when he went to Valencia. There is examples of it everywhere.

Zidane and Pep went from managing B teams (essentially reserves) to taking arguably the 2 biggest jobs in world football with RM and Barca.

Which shows how difficult it is to judge management material. :)

Agreed and probably loads of potentially great managers probably never get a second chance after not taking a first one.

If information on here is to be taken as gospel, didn't Darlo recommend Ricketts to the board? Maybe he can come up with another unsung gem (used advisedly) as our next manager?

I wonder what Darlo's thoughts are on the behaviour (antics if proven) of his last recommendation?

On what basis is Ricketts a better manager than the bloke he’s replacing?

Clearly retaining 3rd tier football is their objective but surely there are more proven names either currently available or in our division above Ricketts. You never know. In 5 years time he could be in the top flight or managing Telford.

I wonder if there is some kind of stigma managing in the non league. Maybe if Ricketts had gone straight to Shrewsbury people wouldn't have thought anything of it.

When you consider Gerrard got the Rangers job and Lampard the Derby one, is Ricketts getting a smaller league one club that strange?

There is nothing strange. Some appointments are made on potential.
Thats how Keates got the job, narural leader and that means decision making.
Same with Gerrard.

You want a manager to take brave decisions, difficult decisions but with focus.
Ricketts does seem the type.

Lets face it Mills and even Wilkin made brave but BAD decisions.
We cannot just tolerate poor players, as I keep saying lose them.
