Need to change the "Let's help a rookie manager get in the shop window" approach.

It's only serving one person and that's the manager.

We need to make an appointment that works for the club which will ultimately work for the fans.

Fed up of this great club being used as a stepping stone for shitehouse individuals

The profile is easy:-
A manager who has previously got clubs promoted.

Has signed good players from non league clubs.

Has shown loyalty to clubs is face of adversity.

Has contacts at many level of the game.

These Narrow the field down a bit.

Initials of DF shortens the list further.

One thing we should not be doing is employing someone on the basis that nobody else is likely to want them in the future.

Agreed - the last pair have done young prospective managers a real disservice - personally I’d go a i for Flynn if he was interested - many of his qualities would suit the model we have . I think we’ve done our bit taking big risks on untried rookies which has blown up in our faces twice in 9 months or so . Askey would probably be second choice . Carl Robinson an interesting one but comes with risk of jumping ship like the others - wouldn’t risk it myself.

I think using the fact 2 rookie managers have left quickly as evidence that rookie managers leave quickly is a bit flawed. Morrell was a rookie manager and stayed a few years, it could easily be coincidence.

With Keates I honestly believe he wouldn't have been offered a job with 23 sides in that league, we were just unlucky the 1 who would were the one looking

Assuming Ferguson isn’t interested, ask Barrow what he thinks of big Den. If he gets the thumbs up, go for it. Martinez was obviously a big fan of big Den.

I'm not sure if he would be interested, but how about Neil Roberts? Being local it would probably be harder for him to leave than someone like Ricketts with no links to the club.

Prefer unattached applicants ,especially mid way through a season.
Would want applicant to work with existing back room staff.
Knowledge of National league.
Good business plan to achieve promotion within the budget set.
Contacts to make signings in January.
Affordable.
Ability to work with trust and communicate well with fans.
Must be able to motivate existing players.
The position will be advertised with a short application period.
Players to have a voice in selection? Not sure if this is the norm but in the circumstances it would seem a good idea to allay any concerns they may have.

A good outside bet would be to appoint Shaun Pearson as Head Coach with Graham Barrow Director of Football.
