It happens quite alot in football, it's all to do with the level of compensation they get paid. Usually if a club can't afford to pay the compo in one go they pay it in instalments with a clause that if they find employment before the end of the compo period then the compo payments stop.

we are on about askey not being able to take the post, cause hes been sacked, and his contract says he wont get paid if he takes a job, im saying in my world id say flip the contract, il lose the money, il take what job i want to if i get offered it,nobodys gona tell me what to do when they have sacked me, so sometimes you have to grow a pair and flip em, ok Jaded have i found you

Askey had a three year contract at the wurzels, so he will be still getting paid around £100000 a year until he takes another job or until the end of the three years.

I’m pretty sure there will be some kind of break clause in their contract with him. The most they’ll end up paying him is one year out of the three.
