Agree. Know he likes being coach but if asked surely he'd take it on. Him and Jussi have been superb so far.

GB is 64 years of age - I think he can see clearly the role he wants to play but not the managers role - he can't do everything. he has stated several times it's not for him.

Secondly, how does the OP know this information ? you would hope any negotiations would be confidential and not released from 'the top' - seems bizzare if it is - almost as bizzare as two and a half year contracts being dished out with no manager physically in place.

If DL doesn't become the next manager then it's tying whoever does to work with a group of people before he's even got here - concerning ?

You are about right RL.
Being sort of near Barrows age myself ,I can see how he may love being heavily involved but doesnt want to be the front buffer in the team !

Its only a couple of nights ago someone posted on Facebook , that Askey was about to be announced the next morning!! Odds mentioned etc Lots of guesses and games being played !

I’ve come to the conclusion (about a week ago) that, when all said and done, nobody really knows feck all about who the new manager will be.

yes like Ricketsgate nobody new nowt, but DL was mentioned 2weeks prior to him leaving, but nobody new nothin then, theres big gobs and people who want to impress everywhere especially after a few pints

How do we know what he wants if we are not allowed to speak to him. If it's a money problem, it won't be with big den, it will be with how much TandT want for him.

The upper limit (aside Salford) is around 35-40K a year and I’d guess that’s what we would pay.

Why would they be able to get money for someone whose contract is nearly up and who they owe wages to? I suppose maybe a token payment if we want him to start in next few weeks? But really doubt that would be the stumbling block.

I would expect the Board to have a wish-list of candidates, which they are probably whittling down to 2 or 3.

Lawrence remains my favourite but the Board hopefully have all the facts and will make the best choice.

35-40k seems low to me too, seem to remember reading Keates was on about 60k but can't remember where.

I would say 40k is reasonable for a div 5 manager. Its the lowest level that a manager can do the job full time so that seems reasonable to me
