January 2018 Transfer rumours and made up stories!

I'm a bit cautious about the clamour for Asante. I know he's started at Chester on fire but his record since leaving Solihull isn't brilliant. Tamworth obviously don't fancy him and they are two divisions below us.

Apart from recalling a bit of buzz about him at Solihull (when everyone was looking for the next Bogle) I can't say I know a great deal about him.

If it is true there is money to spend in January, why not go after Bonne or Rowe? People will say these targets are unrealistic but taking the best players from your rivals serves the dual purpose of strengthening your team and weakening and unsettling your opponent. Other clubs have done it to Wrexham on numerous occasions and we usually roll over and sell. Why shouldn’t we be the team that head hunts opposition players for a change?

The point is whether he is an improvement?
Scoring at the level below, leading the line and certainly benefited from a change in management. Swap deal with Fondop until end of season or sign outright.

Remember the window were shopping in.

No harm in rocking the boat but in all fairness the only way either of those will be leaving is for league football and a hefty fee.

Ah yes, Bonne, linked with Leeds, will leave top of the table Orient to up sticks for a team below them, who in all fairness have less chance of promotion as it stands. Money talks, but we’re not going to be paying Salford wages.

I agree that Bonne is out of our range but Rowe is a different story. In my eyes there would be no harm in testing the waters with a cheeky bid even if it prompts a league club to come in for him at least he won't be playing for one of our rivals.

Similar situation with Rowe in my eyes. It just makes us look stupid and wastes time and fans expectations. He’s got essentially 18 months left on his contract (https://www.thenonleaguefootballpape...rowe-rat-race/) and Fylde don’t want to sell. And again, Fylde have a similar chance of promotion to us at the this point.

All this ‘rivals always take from us’ has only really happened in January once with Fowler, who was after a big pay day and was also a bit weird wasn’t he. Who else have we sold to a rival in the conference in January? Jennings to Tranmere was a summer free wasn’t he? No one really minded seeing the back of Harris here either.
