In fact what are the reasons why we don't go and spent say 100k on a player or two? Genuine question, no dig at the club.
My take on this is that it's simply as risk we can't afford. I think we could pay the fee, but what if the 100k striker didn't score? We wouldn't get our money back and we probably wouldn't be able to go out and spend another 100k on a replacement.

I think its a risk not to spend money, fans have backed the club this season (5200 average).
I think the club needs to show intent and spend a few quid, fans will only put up with this league for so long, most other clubs that have escaped this hell, have done so by spending.

But its the same for every club? Why are we different? Every signing is a risk and you have to trust your managers judgement.

Agree with this although our fan base is still strong and I don't see that dropping off dramatically any time soon non league or not.

We've been waiting for bloody years to be in a strong position where we can go and buy players and now is the perfect time considering our league position.

I don't see risk as a valid excuse, go down that road and we'd never sign anyone.

Yes they have, but they have also had owners who could afford to take the hit if a signing didn't pay off.

I may be barking up the wrong tree with my initial reply, it's just my observations. I agree the fans have again been superb.

Its not going to look good if we don't buy anyone this window with funds available and then fail to go up again.

I agree with what you are saying Phil, but alot of other clubs who spend the bigger sums of money have an owner who can afford to take a bit of a bit. Can we afford that? I don't know whether we can or not, hence my observations which may be wide of the mark.

We all know we need a striker, spend money on someone like Rowe (even if its 200k) and that'll excite fans and show we mean business.
