Perfect analysis for me.
Rooney can rarely have had so little service this season and there were two reasons - the tireless running of our midfield and the way our centre backs marshalled him.
GB has already ‘signed’ two players in converting Akil into a more offensive midfielder and realising that Carrington is actually a good footballer.
Been going for a very long time and yesterday was as close to perfection as I have seen in terms of game management and atmosphere.

Lainton 8 solid, without needing to be spectacular

Carrington 8 great, his link up play in the 2nd half was especially pleasing
Lawlor 9 was Rooney playing. He got no change out of Lawlor and Pearson so moved out to the right to play against Jennings - ditto
Pearson 9 a leader's performance
Jennings 8 the fact that Salford barely threatened our goal was down to great defending by the back 4

Walker 9 simply excellent. Plays the ball simply every time. Great goal
Wright 8 one of his best performances
Summerfield 9 superb and for me MotM
Ruthers 9 As the legs around him tired, he was running the flanks really well

Grant 7 His pace lets him down but had a job to do and he did it well
Beavon 9 wow, what a performance. Did his job for an hour but we've got a game against Solihull on Saturday and we'll need him again.

Don’t be so miserable. Did you get home and find your partner in bed with a Cestrian or something? Was a great game and the sentiment stands was that it’s hard to score when we played so well as a team.
