He was a real hero for me in the early 60s, we attended the same school and lived not far from him. I am glad that others have remembered his three goals against Blackburn Rovers, he also scored in the 1:1 draw which bought them to the Racecourse. He scored 58 goals for us in 121 appearances and was in a very good team at that time.
I hope we remember him on Saturday. Maybe a minutes applause on 58 minutes?
58 in 121 and we let him go to Chester? Imagine that happening now.

I remember him playing with Stan Bennion and Wyn Davies in the Ken Barnes league topping team. Later Albert Kinsey reminded me of him, both left footed and both new where the corner of the goal was. Great memories still though many moons ago.

Mickey was my first real Wrexham hero , mainly thanks to the League Cup hat-trick he scored against high-flying First Division Blackburn Rovers. I was devastated when he was sold to Chester of all teams! He was a great goalscorer and became a legend at Sealand Road. His status there is enshrined forever by his elevation to the Chester FC Hall of Fame. We at the FPA have a close relationship with our Chester friends. One of my biggest regrets is never to have had the pleasure to meet Mickey and tell him how much he impressed me as a Wrexham fan all those years ago. Mickey had been in poor health for some time and his visit to the Racecourse kept getting postponed. He will be sadly missed. RIP Mickey.
