Default Alan Dwyer

Great to see Alan back at the Racecourse today. Special presentation in the Bamfords after the game when Dixie handed over a framed certificate marking the 40th Anniversary of the 1977/78 Third Division Championship season. Alan couldn't attend our celebration dinner back in April so were delighted to be able to make the presentation today. Alan also received our new 40th Anniversary enamel badge.

Anyone recall a League Cup match at the Racecourse - might have been the first season up in L2 (today's Championship)

We were home to Norwich City who included 66 World Cup winner Martin Peter's in their team - it was a lovely bright warm evening, possibly August / early September.

Stand to be corrected but I think it was Alan Dwyer that got injured infront of the Yale Stand as a result of a fall - think he dislocated his shoulder - that's my over riding memory of him being taken off the pitch.

We went behind conceding two goals, pulled a goal back and looked to be getting back into the game but eventually lost 1 - 3.

A superb footballer. Maybe his lack of physical stature / strength prevented him playing at a higher level. Anyone else remember his end-to-end run for a goal in the Welsh Cup semi at Ninian Park in 1978?

Was that Phil's son with him yesterday?
He was quite a gifted player himself locally. Think his name was Kevin. Seen him play a lot in the nineties and he always impressed.

I think you're getting mixed up with Phil Dwyer, ex Cardiff and Wales.
