You could definitely argue he was the main reason Bolton got into the UEFA Cup that year. Fantastic keeper. Best I've ever seen is a stretch, but I definitely wouldn't moan at a prime-Jaaskelainen in between the Wrexham sticks.

If he could coach Lainton to kick the ball and keep it on the pitch he would be perfect !

Get the impression he's enjoying his time here - and part of a good solid backroom staff.

4 experienced old heads are better than a Shropshire bound school leaver any day.

He's not the best, but one of the best I've personally seen with my own eyes, in the last 25years.

Anyone fancy doing their top 5 keepers, since you've been watching football.

1.Schmeichel snr 2. Southal 3.Neuer 4. Casillias 5. De Gea

Jussi in top ten.

As a matter of interest where does Mike Newell go during the game? I'd have thought he would be in the dugout with Graham, unless I've missed something.

If he only gets paid expenses then hats off to him. We are certainly lucky to have him here

There’s probably 10 currently in the Premier League who are already better than JJ ever was. If he was a great keeper he would not have played for Bolton Wanderers for over a decade.

My opinion is based on performances I've seen in the Premier league, and some of his saves and performances for Bolton in the top flight were incredible, I stand by my comment.

He was a very solid Prem keeper for many years, that’s as far as I’d go to be honest.

Seems a top bloke for the changing room though, that’s all we should be concerned about. And Lainton has been brilliant nearly all season. I can’t remember any real howlers he’s made.

There's always that slight possibility that my mind has simply decided he is, just because I like the fact he's a part of our backroom staff!!
