I wasn’t making a point about you to be honest, just a general rule.

I don’t think it’s about being old school or about banter. In my view society has become much less polite over the last 20 years - mainly because the internet allows everyone to broadcast the first thing that comes to mind (which is not always the best idea), and to do it anonymously.

Bring back the cane I say and give it to the two morons who tried to push an old woman on a stick out the way to get on the bus first. But luckely there are people who step in and chucked em down the bus stand. Nothing to do with Wrexham but how respect and manners seem a thing of the past. So fans on here have think before you post what seems OK to you is morally offensive to others.

Thought I would take a step back and think about this and if I’m getting too sensitive. I suppose to an extent I was but I find some of the “banter” quite offensive. JND you inferred he was suffering from alcahol whilst doing his job. I accept that I’m probably too sensitive and therefore over reacted.

I’m just an ordinary guy who wants to find out more about the news about what’s going on with WFC. I will restrain my reaction in future. I’m well too old to lose my temper with people I don’t know.

Sorry RP.

Not sure you have anything to apologise for, tbh.

The problem with comments like that of JND on this thread are that, however jocular, they cast an aspersion on an individual, whilst doing his job. Whether innocently intended or not.
Nor can the butt of the joke have the right of reply on here, realistically.

None of us know what, if at all, the extent of his past problems may have been. Nor do we know whether he has rid himself of any problems, though if he has he should be proud of himself.

As others have said, people should give thought to the effect their comments might have before posting about people who can’t answer back on here.

Can we close this thread now? It’s getting boring.

Nice to read a post from a well balanced and reasoned poster. Obviously irks some when not everyone agrees with their views but I guess we all have different standards.

Anyhow, best wishes to all and fingers crossed for a win tomorrow.

The difference now though JND is that we have internet forums. We can reach hundreds, if not thousands of people, who may take comments about drinking/ drug taking or whatever as gospel. Not what the OP intended maybe, but much easier for these things to get out of hand when compared to three or four people turning the air blue or being non pc for their own amusement.

The effect that these comments have will depend on where the person is. A recovering addict is likely to be more vulnerable than your average Joe ( addiction is quite often a result of that person "staying strong" and self medicating to cope). Doesn't make them a weaker person or a "snowflake" . Likewise does having empathy or compassion for someone make us a weaker person ?

I think people are generally good and I am not above the odd off colour remark at times but it stays between me and my partner or the mates I'm larking about with. I wouldn't post them on here or any other public forum. Keeping those comments to my inner circle is (IMO) respectful in that my no filter me gets to blow off steam without the potential for people getting hurt by those comments

Hope that gives a different perspective ?
