Default Re: Team for Dover - Games coming thick and fast

One game at a time - and they are coming thick and fast.

Team selection depends on many factors.

Will Grant & Walker be signed now their loan spells have ended ?
Any new signings before the weekend ?
Who's fit ? Beavon took a knock and was out of sorts before being substituted.
Yesterday we looked knackered with no pace but made no changes.
Yet Salford were able to rotate and perhaps that's the difference - strength in depth.

With a very difficult game next Tuesday at the fast improving Bromley who beat Sutton United last night - GB may well take this into account when selecting the team.

Walkers loan finishes after the Dover game so we do have him for one more game if the loan extension doesn't go through.

Would hope we could do a permanent deal on Walker.

Same here. I would have though he would be the first player we would put an offer in for. it would be a massive loss if we can't get him back here.

Dont see the need to drop Beavon given he makes way @ the hour mark.
Tollitt worth a start once fitness improves - if he is still here.
Dont see what Grant offers as he isnt a forward and doesnt have work rate for midfield. Wont be disappointed if he doesnt sign.

Need to improve goals from Summerfield and need a creative midfielder.

Dont think Holroyd has justified a start and Young has been too in and out.

Its only new signings that are going to improve us as GB has shuffled the pack enough.
With Grant signing today, I would play that team with slight reservations about taking 3 work horses out of the starting 11 (Wright, Beavon and Rutherford, who have been in fine form this month). Unless a striker is signed in time for Saturday (probably unlikely) then I would start Holroyd & Young. Holroyd has scored 2 goals recently and both he and Young have been fairly starved of action and I think both would play their hearts out if/when their chance arrives.

Grant was obviously priority with his loan ending but I would expect Walker will be sorted judging by the noises from both clubs and Walker himself. If we have convinced Grant to drop 2 divisions and we are prepared to push the boat out a bit more for Walker then surely the deal will be done. The only reservation talking to some Crewe fans is that he was reluctant to move his family from the NE which didn't help him in his time at Gresty Road.

I 'be re-assessed my thoughts for today, I don't expect too many changes, I think GB will show some confidence in lads beaten at Salford to bounce back and the characters involved will be desperate to make amends. No sign of a new striker yet but depending how goid Tollitt is looking, he may be given a chance to freshen things up.
