They shouldn't do it and have paid the price but it's all a bit of a mockery for the fans.
Surely there should be some form of system before a ball is kicked to ensure these circumstances don't get repeated - it's not the first time it's happened - seem to recall a Chester v Bury FA Cup tie going the same way.

Some will say the responsibility is down to the clubs - and they would theoretically be right.
But those governing the competition should be held to account and not allow it to happen and be in a position to identify it before it happens. Plenty of modern technology and apps to list who can play and who can't.
Fans pay a lot of money - fans rejoice when they win - same fans now discover it was all a waste of time.
Another club, in this case Sutton United who have already been beaten get reinstated and could theoretically win the competition now - all becomes a bit farcical and devalues the credibility of the competition.
Gone on for far too long - governing bodies need to resolve it.
When is a football result not a football result ?

All what you said is common sense, but we all know the FA haven't got common sense.

There should be, although the FA are never going to say "whoops, sorry, our fault" - it's not in their nature. Blame will always fall on the club in things like this.

The only alternative really is for Spennymoor to get a bye into round 3 rather than reinstate Sutton United, which isn't a bad idea in theory.

If we get to Wembley will you decide it's better to stay at home ?

I don't think at our Level 5 league position we can disregard any competition.
Gaining prize money takes the pressure off finding funding from other sources - and could go to team strengthening.
The team we put out might not be as strong as it could be for a league match, especially in the early rounds but this competition has got us to Wembley twice in recent years - great occasions for the fans - something followers of other clubs have never and possibly will never get the opportunity (Chester for one).

It's not impossible to do the double - being a professional club it should be our goal until it's taken from us.
