We actually had Moult, Holman, Jennings , Bishop And York as attacking options. Criminal not to go up.

I still don't buy into the theory that we can't afford a decent striker.

Our debts are cleared, we've received compensation for two managers in the last 10 months, we have the Danny Ward money, above budgeted attendances, and a run to the FA Cup 2nd round which while not lucrative was not originally budgeted for.

We're either holding onto the cash and reluctant to spend it for whatever reason or we're just spending it very badly. We obviously can't pay £4K a week or whatever Salford were paying Rooney, but we should be able to compete with the likes of Fylde and Orient for striking options. Obviously I mention them because they have the likes of Rowe and Bonne, we should be able to compete for those sort of players.

I've been very supportive of the club being cautious with money previously for various reasons but I can't see any reason not to 'go for it' now. Despite our last 3 results, we're in a position to potentially challenge for the title, and must be in a better state financially than we've been for a good while. The trouble now is the availability of players. We needed to do much better than Fondop in the summer, that was a massive error.

I don't think we need a change in ownership, we need a change in attitute to risk. Be cautious when we need to, absolutely, even when it's frustrating, but don't be afraid to spend when we have the opportunity.

Seeing as Barrow clearly wasn't first choice as manager, despite the garbage spouted by Spencer about being the outstanding candidate (if that was the case he'd have got the job over Ricketts in the summer) maybe the board just don't trust him to spend big?

I really hope that's not the case. We can't have a manager on a 2.5 year contract that isn't backed. Back him or sack him, as they say!

Barrow quoted in local rag as being "given everything he has asked for"

Do we have the Danny Ward money? My understanding is that it was being paid in installments.
The signing of 3 players and making Lainton & Grant permanent is surely not a cautious approach.
The error made in my opinion was not signing a decent striker close season when some are likely to be out of contract so no fee required.
Fondop was a gamble that we could ill afford to take.

Still makes me laugh all those that defended him on here. Its a fine example of how totally blinkered and deluded some people get about Wrexham players.
To be honest we have been utter dogshit since the team Saunders left apart from the first 3 months of Mills season, then after that he set the trend of dogshit signings which apart from defensive signings by Keates has continued.

I don't go along with this won't sign good strikers as won't pay for them, take Bonne for instance at Leyton Orient he was crap before they signed him, it's more down to poor coaching, poor scouting Fondup an example, the fat pub centre half/striker from Harrogate last season.

But spotting potential at this level is paramount, take Wright as an example has he really progressed since we signed him?
