Re: Ratings at Fylde
Personally thought we were the better team first half but defensive errors / failure too clear the ball cost us in the 44th minute. Team looked deflated then and trooped off at half time with their heads down.
Second half we started OK but again sloppy passing gave the ball away and a quick counter attack saw us 2 down. A little bit of late spirit following substitutions resulted in some pressure in the Fylde box but 2 good saves and poor shooting left us pointless. It wasn't as bad as some make out, Still very poor through midfield, spent too much time going backwards and sideways giving the defence time to reorganise themselves and leaving us frustrated with our obvious inability to break then down. Roberts was a disaster, Fylde exposed him and played to his / our weakness. Walker, Disappointing. Beavon looked tired. Should have had a Penalty from our first corner as Pearson was wrestled to the ground but yet another poor ref bottled it and gave a few weird decisions. Can only assume that Oswell wasn't fit and Stockton not yet fully match fit. Not sure about Tollit but apart from his goal against Salford he hasn't impressed. Jennings isn't that good but he's better than Roberts. Carra to start at RB next Sat. Luke Young very much Curates egg. Good in parts but awful in others. Covers well and presses but couldn't make a pass in an alley. Disappointed to lose 4 league games on the trot (Just like Salford) but unsure whether we have the capability of shrugging off this defeat and getting back on a winning run. Great support let down by a poor second half performance. Fylde were not that good but were decisive when it mattered. Nice club and sports bar but in some respects still very amateurish. Catering in the ground is probably the slowest and poorest in the league and would struggle to cope with more than 100 opposition fans. |

As you correctly ask, 'do we have the character to turn things around?' I am unsure, too. I guess we'll have a better idea on Saturday, when there can be no lame excuses.

Tiredness - they dont know what real tiredness is. No time to prep in training as too many games. All the clubs we face are on a good run. Whenever things go wrong then look at yourself first and ask could I have done better, did I get it wrong. But no its always somebody elses fault. The starting 11 has to change. Out go Roberts, Wright, Grant and either Ruthers or Beavon at least. Last edited by pagl; 20th January 2019 at 12.59:28.. |

Re: Ratings at Fylde
Let's be fair here, 1st 43 minutes were as good as an away performance seen all season. Broke with purpose, got in great positions and a couple of very good chances. Contrast that to the 2nd half and it was as clueless and inept as I've seen. The side lacks pace throughout, Kev Roberts woeful going forward and gets torn a new one against any winger with pace or half an idea. What concerns me most is the complete capitulation after we concede 1st, surely enough experience in that 11 to bounce back and at least compete 2nd half? Also, what on earth must Barrow/Newell/Darlington be saying to them at half time to produce that p1ss poor reaction?! We are in serious trouble here, don't get drawn into the 4 points off top spin, yes it's factually correct but this team will not gain enough points away from home to maintain/eat into the gap.

Re: Ratings at Fylde
Thought Roberts and grant operating on the right side was an absolute car crash, there full back and winger probably had the easiest game ever, and Roberts ripped apart for both goals, not good enough I’m afraid.

Re: Ratings at Fylde
Oh don't get me wrong here, we are as clinical as a blunt spoon but we actually created some half decent chances/got in promising positions. Compare that to Bromley, Salford etc and it was much better as a 'performance'. Rutherford in the first couple of minutes broke through, progressed to the edge of the box and picked the first defender with his ball in. Their left winger was in 2 worse positions than that and scored twice, sums it up. Need pace up top if you ask me, pyke and tollit either side of the central striker (pick from the 3 barrow considers to play there, not a hug amount of difference).
