Default February

This is going to be the month when we can make a go for the title or fizzle out and go down the league. We have 4 Saturday games, 3 of which are away. Not to be a job's comforter, we have not scored in our last 4 away games. I hope that GB MN know something we don't and manage to get the team scoring again and winning away from home. Only time will tell.

Our team seems to like the wider space our pitch gives. Away teams have been known to narrow their pitch when they host Wrexham for this very reason. It's one of our downfalls, and we need to learn how to play on awful, cramped pitches effectively.

When the new facility opens there needs to be a second pitch - an awful, minimum size pitch which is all torn up and battered to practice on.

Nine acre has two pitches, one the same size as the racecourse and the other the average size of away pitches, unfortunately we do struggle with any tactics/plans on smaller pitches especially over the winter months against physically bigger teams. Going to be some hard away games mentally for us I think as well as physically.

Its nothing to do with pitch size, its attitude.
Were too defensive away from home, happy with a point and more concerned about keeping it. Fylde away selection showed that - toothless.

Feb is make or break for the title challenge, lets at least try with a fight. Means a new CM though this week.

We're too defensive at home at times. Definitely right about needing a new CM though, midfield has been shocking for years and does not help any strikers we have here. IMO pitch size does affect tactics along with weather conditions, we just don't adapt to any of them and use our squad accordingly. Attitude as you say plays a big part, we just get dragged into hoof ball on heavy pitches against big brutes.

Don't get the moans about pitch size. There is rarely much in it 5 yards at most.
I think it's down to some posters perceptions rather than fact. The pitches look smaller on some small grounds as you are closer to the playing surface and the view is different.
As an example the two games against Solihull were pretty much the same "football wise" We won one and lost one. Both pretty dismal affairs.
We struggle on the plastic pitches for some reason.

One certainty in February is that the transfer window will close - but only for us in this league. Granted, our competitors will be unable to sign players from the Football League either, but we are further restricted in that as a Welsh club, we come under FIFA rules preventing the signing of ANY players outside the window.

Because of that reason, it could just be that our three recent signings are intended to bolster our team from February onwards, giving them time to get up to speed between now and when they are introduced. They will now be building fitness levels and skill levels - we heard how players have been working on shooting accuracy for the last week (LOTS more to be done there then!) but we will have options available, thanks to timely signings having been made during the current window.

It's just a thought, as I can think of no other reason why new players are not being played, unless management now thinks they are no better than those we had already, after seeing them in training.

Our away form is not really good enough at the moment, so we need to go to Boreham Wood, Havant & Waterlooville and Gateshead with a more positive belief and, if necessary, just ground out some wins.

Yesterday's win may not have been convincing but picking up those 3, valuable points was the most important factor. If we can pick up a minimum of 6 points on the road, and beat Dagenham & Redbridge at home, we'll be in a very good position for the all important run-in.

It's a tall order, I know; but if we want promotion it's something we must master. All to play for!

We struggle on away pitches regardless of surface.
