Give Roberts a chance in the trequartista position.

How many times has he played CB for us? Not many.

What I mean is that his style is that of a centre back. He is not a 'get up and down the line' full back, but he is a stopper who is far happier defending man to man, and is very good in the air for a defender who is , what? 5'9"?

Roberts may have been a bit off form recently but so as everyone else, but he is better in the air, a better tackler, reads the game better but like our 3 full backs has to use his experience to make up for their lack of pace when confronted by a really quick wingers.

Since Carra has proved he can do a good stand in job at left back, I'm always relaxed with him starting at right back but why would we change some thing that has proved to work, other than all 3 full backs do seem to be picking up knocks. It must give great confidence to the rest of the team to have a solid back 4 behind them.
Yes agreed better at defending but lacks going forwards....not his fault as if we played 442 with proper wingers he would be fine.

Gotta be between him or Lainton.

If we want a rapid wing back then fine but Roberts does his defenders job well and even when up against quick wingers they seldom get the better of him or create against us. He also provides a bit of balance, allowing Jenno to bomb on down the left.

The team as with Roberts is set up slow and defensively which shows in our play when we break forward. I wouldn't exactly describe Jennings as 'bombing' down the left either.

Playing Walker in CM means we need the other 2 players to be more attack minded. Summerfield isn't and is hardly creative and whilst Wright gets forward then its mostly ineffective. The combination with the front 3 does not work very well.

We are now stuck with what we have and all GB can do is shuffle the pack in the hope he stumbles across a winning formula in some games.

We all know that 37 goals in 31 games (9 of which were in 2 games) doesn't lie.

Jenno bombing forward was a bit OTT but he does put some cracking balls in and like our general play its not too bad, we just need to take our chances when we do have good spells in games. We should break quicker and last season we were woeful in possession at times, especially when there eas a quick break on, but this time we have improved, if we can find some end product.

Just split this into a new thread for performance reasons.

Don't want some big news breaking tomorrow and the server melting down!
