Lawlor (8) Thought he was excellent! Two vita tackles/interceptions and a solid game all-round. MOTM.

Pearson (7) Standard. Threat in the opposing box too.

Jennings (7.5) Defended well and was a menace going forward.

Young (7) Good work ethic, always looking to attack and create

Wright (5) Got to be there to miss them but dear lord, that was some shocking finishing. Battled ok at times

Walker (6) Mixed bag

Tollit (7) Was impressed and nice to see a player run at defenders!

Stockton (5) Started ok but faded

Grant (5) No real moment of quality apart from that rasper of a shot which hit the crossy

Beavon (7) Changed the game and a clinical finish

Ruthers (7) Caused them problems down the right

Carra (N/A)
That's fair, I reckon. Some really bizarre ratings from others. All about personal opinions, though.

Lainton (7) A couple of important saves and a great pass straight to BH feet.
Roberts (6) His heading ability gets him the 'nod' over Carra and his right wing link up play was decent
Lawlor (8) I also thought he was excellent Those around me commented that he has been a consistent performer since he arrived. Can't remember him having a bad game.
Pearson (8) His presence in our and their box was immense. He's clever and doesn't get outlegged often and even if he does he makes up for it.
Jennings (7) Jennings had one of his better games and was responsible for waking Tollitt up

Walker (7) he picks up all the loose. By me the aficionados thought he was as good, if not better than the rest.
Young (7) Good work rate and never gives up.
Wright (6) Players won't mind missing as lomg as they are getting into the areas where the ball is in the area. Akil had a poor game in the box but credit him for being there.

Tollit (7) First half he was lost, credit Jenno for waking him up in the 2nd half. D&R were scared stiff as soon as he ran at them. He has the talent, we just need to get it out of him.
Stockton (5) lost
Grant (6) I'm not sure that playing him on the right is doing him any favours but just needs a goal to go in and he would be fine. Lacking a bit of confidence.

Roberts (5) Steady but offers little going forward.

Lawlor (7) Good game spoilt by a few crap passes.

Pearson (7) Good game.

Jennings (7) Good game and unlucky not to score. My MOTM.

Young (7) Worked hard.

Walker (6) Needs to impose himself more.

Wright (6) Thought he played well in the first-half, then went awol for 25 minutes. Got himself into good scoring positions but lacks composure.

Grant (4) Looked slow and contributed little. Looked better when he dropped deeper. Could be he’s just match rusty, but should be doing more.

Stockton (5) Rather static but he hasn’t played much. Needs more game time.

Tollitt (7) Again he’s not fully fit but he was the only player with pace and control to attack their defence. Hope we can extend his loan, for we will be poorer without him.

Subs:

Beavon (7) Our new super-sub.

Rutherford (7) Upped the ante when we needed it.

Carrington (N/A) Not on long enough.

Should have been about 7-0 but for their keeper and Wright’s lack of composure!
Nevertheless, an invaluable 3 points, with hopefully better to come!

Agree - Tollitt is a breath of fresh air - we have been crying out for someone like him for more than this season - has pace and will run at defenders. Of course he needs to be fed and supplied with the ball but he got stronger as the game wore on.

I hope Bryan Hughes is the type of manager that doesn't have favourites based on previous history with league clubs / reputation. He made exactly the correct substitutions and at the right time on Saturday.

Tranmere fan friends of mine are saying exactly the same as we are about Stockton - he is slow ponderous and ineffective - contrast that with the introduction of Beavon - if any players underperformed it wasn't Tollitt but Stockton and the anonymous Grant.

Hopefully Oswell returns at Havant in place of Stockton - and at least Fondop has some energy, physicality and seems eager to do well, but he's like the invisible man at the moment.

I would like to see both Fondop and Holroyd get some game time under BH.
