It could be a win/win for an individual or organisation. The potential for the upsides of being linked to a successful football club, without the numerous downsides and hassle of actually owning it.

The guy at Chester is putting in £1 million but not asking for ownership of the club in return.
Might be wrong but happy to be corrected I think originally the Brentford owner took a minority stake with the Bees Trust still having a majority. I think it ran that way for a while until they sold the remaining shares when he stumped up the cash for the redevelopment plans. A good example of partnership and one that I think people could buy into. The big thing was the trust (small t) built up between the parties early.

And he definitely isn't linked to a "successful football club". Even if a truly benevolent donor came forward it doesn't mean their benevolence can outlive them. Remember jack Walker, a true Blackburn fan who gave them their most successful era ever but, when he died, his share was taken over by an Indian consortium and things have gone downhill ever since. At least a fan owned majority can remain "immortal".

BV. I think Brentford was a number of businessmen who all put money in.
I used to do some work for one of them and his advertising is all over the ground still.

I wont expand but using the example from up the road is not a good one. I would be very worried if the entity was involved here.

The original post tells you all you need to know about the attitude of a certain section of the club’s fan base, which would appear to be similar or the same as those on the board. We are going to be stuck at this level for some considerable time because they just do not understand football or business. No one can question their good intentions but whilst they are making the big decisions, we will continue to be run in a similar manner to an amateur sports club.

Its clear that the club has a vast potential fanbase, strong brand and great potential. The consensus being that we are asset free and there is nothing to actually invest in which is totally misleading.

Had to re-write the 1st sentence for accuracy, the club, its brand, its location, its dedicated supporter base and potential are a fantastic investment for anyone. Whatever the views on investment its totally wrong to intimate that the club has no value.
It is not misleading it is just plain wrong.

Yes but good luck in convincing the ones who live in the past 11-12 yrs they are rigid with fear 😱 it could be if we're down here still in another 10yrs 15 managers later before they come from under the bed.

I’m perfectly willing to be convinced when or if someone comes along.
However, I’m not sure how I can be convinced. How would you convince me to come out from under the bed?

Unfortunately, I’m of the view that if there is someone out there who wants to put money in for the right reasons, where were they when we really needed them?
That is, when the Club had no ground, no money, no prospects and just the goodwill of the fanbase who raised the money for the Bond etc.
