Seems like the same old problems for Keates. Walsall not scoring enough goals and Keates signing players on loan but not even playing them. He left our club too early like Ricketts did and now it's showing for the pair of them. I do feel sorry for Keates but Ricketts gets what he deserves the little snake.

Got to agree. Was a good player and always gave his all but thought he was a terrible one dimensional manager and tactically clueless. Ricketts was the better manager imo but looks like he could be heading the same way as Keates.

Great scrappy player, but thought his appointment as manager and overall performance was poor. Wasn't sorry to see him go just awful timing given our position. Then the woeful end to the season to top it off. Ricketts flattered to deceive, might have made a fist of it here given the time, but jumping ship like that was a the act of a totally mercenary a-hole, no sympathy.

Unfortunately they both have tried to run before they can walk.

If either of them had finished the job they started, they would of had promotion on their cv and more essentially experience.

Good luck to both of them if they end up out of work they cant change the past.

Feel the opposite. Liked Keates as a player. Cannot forgive him for stabbing both Morrell and Wilkin in the back. He put me in mind of Iago.
Eventually got what he wanted and did steady the ship. Was relieved when he left - felt he was negative.
Ricketts! We are quids in from his stupid decision to leave. He is a bit exposed now without the superb Wrexham coaching staff to help him. As is Keates.

Yep. Both under 40 (at the point of leaving us) so I'm not having that load of arse about how they 'couldn't turn it down', and the 'chance may never come again' rubbish. They could each manage for the next 25-30 years. If they did even half decent, the opportunity to manage Walsall and Shrewsbury would have presented itself on more than one occasion.

Look at Danny Cowley's career - he's obviously going to end up in a much bigger job than Lincoln but he's not jumped ship straight away. Building his experience and getting the promotions in instead of grabbing the quickest small step up the ladder. He's now got a solid record to fall back on if he went higher and failed.

Keates went too early, Ricketts - absolutely ridiculous, 20 games or whatever it was. Keates obviously has more credit in the bank than Ricketts due to his playing days here but I can't feel too sorry for him after walking out with 9 games to go when we had a good chance of promotion.

I don't care to the degree that I'm checking their scores constantly or trolling their forums but I reserve the right to raise a smile if I see that either has been sacked.

Watching Wrexham with keates as manager has to be the worst in 43 years of supporting our great club, he was just lucky he had the best centre half in non league football in pearson.Do not blame him going one bit and he would have doubled his wages and will walk away if sacked with a good pay out

I think Keates genuinely has affection for the club, and left to go to the team
he supports, we’d all do the same. Ricketts is a shithouse who doesn’t know the meaning of loyalty. Hope Sam gets sacked and we go up, poetic justice!
