Re: Welsh Rugby in North Wales
Years ago, I had a spell watching the Crusaders. I thought that they damaged the pitch far too much. Now I am told that Rugby Union players create even more havoc. With that said, I don’t want Rugby (of either code) under mining our playing surface. I have always been proud of our pitch and stadium, let’s keep it that way.

Keep the fat egg chasers off the our grass! I only like rugby when Wales are decent and there's a chance of a piss up, thanks.

Re: Welsh Rugby in North Wales
When we played a match at the Racecourse after the Crusaders had used it the football never seemed to run true - bobbling about - does nothing to help the playing surface having 30 men rolling around the grass and repeatedly damaging the turf.
Is or has there ever been a real demand in the North for Rugby Union ? The north west of England is a hotbed for rugby league with massive support but never really associated our area with RU, but I guess we will find out soon enough, hopefully in Colwyn Bay. |

I wouldn't worry too much about it though, they're far more likely to be based in Colwyn Bay than Wrexham I would guess.

Re: Welsh Rugby in North Wales
You have to look at the positive negative.
Negative it would wreck the pitch unless we had some kind of synthetic hybrid. Positive you'd have to think it would bring money into Wrexham and boy it needs it at the moment. |

Re: Welsh Rugby in North Wales
It would be at Eiras, a lot has been invested up that was and is more of a rugby area than Wrexham. Plus there is no other professional sport in that area so less competition.
Crusaders seem to be doing OK down at the Queensway, get crowds of about 6/700 and pushing for 800 in the home opener on Sunday. Win win all around, they get an affordable stadium and the pitch at the racecourse is given time to rest after the footy season. |
