Undermined by Horne and failed to deal with old hands in dressing room.
It was obvious at FAT when he subbed Keates and failed to lead the team before extra time.

I think he has found his club now.

Wilkins performance in the FA Trophy was a perfect example of poor man management, and he had to go after that.
Being undermined by other people at the Club certainly made his job more difficult, and other people signing players like Holman surely knocked his confidence and authority in the eyes of the senior players. That probably contributed to him losing the dressing room.
It might have all been more positive for him from the beginning if the Board (or Horne) had prevented him from bringing in his own assistant, and appointed someone else, over his head.
I’m sure with the benefit of hindsight he sees that now.

Always thought he was out of his depth, and I suspect the reason he didnt control the senior players was because they knew he was too.

I always heard one of the reasons they lost faith was he replaced the room they used for post game analysis with a table tennis table.

Heard horror stories of the way some senior players used to treat him, namely Andy Bishop and Keates

I think if he'd of had a clean slate of players just like Mills had, he might have done much better.

He signed some cracking players that would walk into this team now

Agree - I would have given him another season personally.

I liked Wilkin, seemed a good bloke. Glad he's doing well and doesn't appear to harbor grudges.

A mark of the man was that very soon after we sacked him, he came back for Les Evans' funeral. Class fella, and would love to see him be successful.
