Two moments stood out for me today, both in the second half.

Chesterfield had a corner, and it became a stand off between one of our ball boys who had the ball in his hands, and one of their players. They eye-balled each other from a distance of about 5 yards for what seemed an eternity, and the ball boy, cool as you like, dropped the ball in front of him, making the Chesterfield player get it himself. Words were exchanged.

Towards the end, the ball went out for a Wrexham corner, and straight towards a ball boy. He casually cocked his leg to let the ball go behind him. Wasted valuable seconds. Love it. That Chesterfield fans are up in arms makes it all the sweeter.

Top of the league what is not to like. very effective performance today. great atmosphere. The differing opinions on here are fascinating. mom for me would be a difficult call. I thought young shaded it. I do rate Rutherford. he is not the most technically gifted but he is a tremendous "bread and butter player" as the infamous vinney jones used to call them. his workrate and pace are amazing. his enthusiasm is infectious.

Anyone notice the touch that that one ball boy had, close to the dugout, when he brought the ball the down in the first half. Sign him up!

I passed comment to the wife about that touch. Really impressive as he controlled it really well considering the height of the ball!

Note to Wrexham players, DON'T pass to Akil.

Today's MOM should have been Rutherford, could have been Beavan, but Akil????
Pretty sure he scored the winner !!
That was from a pass so your talking bollocks

I think he is talking more of a passing it too him in midfield scenario rather than balls he can get into in the box. Pleased he finished it well today. Hit the target

Wrights positioning is suspect as is his inability to shield/hold the ball.
He maybe more effective wide right, Rutherford left when Tollitt goes.

There are both positive and negative aspects to Wrights game.
The positives are his ability to get in the right attacking areas as he has shown recently, his ability to intercept the ball and bring it up field and his ability to battle for balls in the air.
The negatives are his lack of control, poor passing and limited perception of what he's going to do with the ball when he's got it.
That said, he has improved overall as a player and is worth persevering with.
We did what was required yesterday in getting the 3 points. it wasn't pretty but we controlled the game.
Lainton was untroubled.
kennedy did an effective job at RB and got forward when he could.
Pearson and Lawler. Superb ( Standard performance)
Jennings - Bad day at the office. Poor crossing, Rarely got forward into good attacking positions as he has done recently. Defensively OK.
Walker - Average performance.
Akil. Good goal and decent game overall.
Young . Average game. Less forward movement than the last few games. Probably due to the way Chesterfield played.
Tollit. Usual curates egg of a game. In and out of the action. One or two good spells but little end product.
Rutherford. Usual hard working performance. A useful player at this level for his enthusiasm and energy but limited ability.
Beavon. good to see him back. Isolated too many times but is probably our most creative player.
Subs did their jobs effectively.
Ref. Obviously just stepped in at the last minute. Too big a step from his usual Sunday League games.
