You all seam to have forgotten that Rutherford and Akil Wright are both former Barrow players and will play their hardest because of it - as will Rooney for Barrow.
Barrow's away strength has been in controlling the ball and if you try to play 4-3-3 you'll probably lose the midfield battle - and also get hit on the counter attack.
Eek.

Our fans would rather a Rutherford who scores once every 60 games or so.

Sounds easy. Except we never get hit on the counter.

It's not in Darlington's coaching manual so we can't play it.

I’d rather have Rutherford, Grant, Beavon et al because we’re challenging at the business end of the league.

For what it’s worth, I liked Vose but it’s clear he has his issues. He wasn’t that good that we should carry him or build a team around him.
Grant has played zero part in getting us to second place.
Rutherford has been a passenger all season, only keeping his place due to JMD's fall out and subsequent departure.
Beavon has played his part and always given 100%,showing touches of class along the way.
Tollitt apart we are desperately lacking matchwinners.

I’d rather have Beavon than Louis Moult because we are challenging at the business end with Beavon and we never were with Moult.

Hahahaha. Am I doing it right?

Some of Rutherford's better performances came in midfield. Buzzing around the opposition, not letting them settle and driving forward with the ball from the middle of the park.

Not knocking Tollitt, but how many games had we won before he arrived? No doubt we have struggled to build on our highly impressive defensive record and improve our goal ratio, but we have had some impressive wins this season including beating Solihull and thrashing Salford with a so called impotent strike force. We may not have that special player but we are second with 9 games to play and therefore collectively we have match winners.

Maybe we have over achieved but it has got to be better than the last 4 or 5 years of under achieving and this group of players deserve credit for that.

We’ve won the most matches in the league. The matchwinners are just not up front.
