Default Re: Barrow Reaction

People are already thinking towards the summer, and a clearout of the dead wood again.

I guess we do have to keep at least one eye on that scenario because last night showed that without a couple of leaders on the pitch (Pearson/Walker) we are actually left with .... not a team that would struggle to stay in the playoffs, but actually a team that is relegation standard. No disrespect to Barrow who played well, but, last nights team couldn’t beat anybody in the NL, even at home, imho.

If we do fail to go up (and for what it’s worth I can’t see us doing it with our lack of goals and our dependence on a couple of key players) then I would once again be happy to see a big clearout at the end of the season.

I’m rubbish at knowing who is under contract and who isn’t, but my retained list would be....

Jennings
Pearson (if we can keep hold of him!!!)
Manny?
Carrington
Summerfield

That’s it for me really

I like Ruthers and Beavon but it looks like we will never go up on sheer hard work alone, we need goals from the positions on which these two play in

Anyone else starting to think a little bit about What If, and retained list?

(Runs and hides) ;o)

Jennings was **** last night and is far to inconsistent let him go end of season

Out of those you said keep I would offload Jennings, also Manny is not certain to recover from his op and injury, I would keep Lawlor who apart from last night has been good and keep Lainton & Kennedy the rest can go

They were all shite last night. Was disappointed with his lack of leadership as captain but I dont class him as a leader just a bit gobby.
In both FB positions I would hope for more pace and strength next year and players a bit younger.

Both full back positions are a concern for me.

Problem is we have players like Fondop with another year left, by the look of it hes pretty much frozen out now. Oswell well god knows whats going on with him.

Basically we have a lot of sub standard players on the books for next season.

For what its worth if we can attract two quality midfielders i think we can do ok. If Orient & Salford go up the league will be easier for us. Notts County coming down are in serious trouble.

Cheers JND am interested to hear what other fans think.
Jennings is a player who will always divides opinion I guess.

Another reason we are so poor is the players are not fit or physically strong enough. We are so easily knocked off the ball and last night it looked like men playing boys. This was backed up by Pearson and the Shrewsbury bound midfielder being missing

Well look at the clubs who deemed him not good enough before joining us Forest Green Cheltenham to name 2
