John Askey should have been given the job. Yet he was passed over 3 times, just that in itself shows how incompetent the board are. He is good enough for League Two club but not for us, what is all that about?

For every Brad Walker you get at least one player like Jermaine McGlashan (although I am willing to give him a chance, Maidstone should be easy picking at this point). Just the way loans work, unfortunately. Nobody's going to loan out their best players.
So I guess Mark Wilson and Matt Derbyshire were 'crap' then!

I never said all loan players were 'crap'. You do sometimes strike gold. But you look at the loans any team - especially at this level - get in, there's a lot more misses than hits.

Side thing: It'd be interesting to look at all the loanees we've had in this league and see our hit to miss ratio, granted it's objective but the results would be interesting. I may do it myself one day unless someone does it first.

You'd need to take a week off to do that!

We’ve had far too many loan players.

The January transfer window is our Achilles heel forever and a day.

The only time we utilised it properly we got promoted both times (Mike Lake and Scott Green)

I'm now completely disillusioned as to what direction we are going in.With the money available from the Ward transfer and increased gates we've brought in complete dross as is now being proven.

If it's poor decision making on signings then that's one thing but if the likes of Oswell, Stockton and Grant are the best we can do for the money available we're never going up.

January is where you really kick on, we've again screwed it up and a couple of injuries compounds it resulting in what we've seen the last few games.

Very sad

But we must start winning, starting on Saturday. Regardless whether we are promoted or not, BH has a rebuild on his hands for next season.

My opinion, but bordering on facts!
Excellent post prodigal You speak a lot of truth.

I can't think of any we have picked up in January in the last few years that have pushed the team forward and that loans and signings. All I can think of is there fair amount of Donkeys like Abbott etc etc.
