Time for the cotton wool
To go for the title, based on our limited abilities and the superior quality of Orient, Fylde, and Salford is madness. I am suggesting a recognition of our best formation (4_2_3_1) and protection of the best players. Stuart Beavon needs to have his game time shortened. Shaun Pearson needs to miss some games. Mark Carrington needs to be protected as first choice rightback ONLY Paul Rutherford needs protecting from tiredness. Brad Walker should have no gametime until final 2 league games Drop Lainton for final 2 league games so cover is sharp Give Jennings a rest for final 2 league games. (This is the big one for me) Give Holroyd gametime behind the Striker to get comfortable with this semi_midfield role. He's our Only hope left for goals. Re: Time for the cotton wool
I said at 11 games out we needed 22 points to realistically challenge for the title so we need another 16 from the last 7 which is 5 wins and a draw at least. If another team beats that then fair play and good luck to them.
We don't look in that form but we can't chuck it in just yet and rest players. We really need to win the next 2 IMHO to repair the damage from last Tuesday if we have any realistic title hopes. If we don't do that then maybe we start thinking about play offs and being strategic about resting key players but it's a fine balancing act |

Re: Time for the cotton wool
Quite simply you play your best starting 11 each week and aim for top spot until it becomes impossible - if not the title we need to aim for the next best - 2nd or 3 rd will give us a great chance to reach Wembley.
The problem is Bryan Hughes hasn't currently got a clue to what our best 11 is - and neither have we - few players are making a claim that they should be in the starting 11. Oh and without Pearson we go to pieces - his presence is vital. With no midweek fixtures from here on in other than the Easter weekend, team selection should be easier - no congestion and time for players to recover between games. |

Re: Time for the cotton wool
We cant rest any of our players.
If we don't win the league we need to focus on top three. Even if we drop out of the top three we need to focus on finishing top 5 for home advantage in the first game. We saw what happens when Pearson doesn't play. Posted via mobile theme |

Re: Time for the cotton wool
Surely we play our very strongest team because by fact we can still win the league. Yes, it's not in our hands now but a couple of poor results by Orient or Moors and we are there to pounce. Can't believe this talk of play off preparation!
