I have fingers crossed this could actually come off.

Hopefully the Uni get on board, and say the council find a way to find the cash to get it over the line.

To be clear I have not seen any documents or plans, but what if they have new station / hotel / gateway path to the club / stand? In theory in a few weeks documents should start to come out to firm things up.

Will the various people involved let the club/town down or shape up?

Well as it says feasibility study released May 2019 so hopefully we can see at least high level ideas.

It would be built where the current Kop is, on land that we lease, with permission from Glyndwr.

Worth remembering that we didn’t own the Racecourse when any of the current stands were built. Apart from a short period in-between coming out of admin after Hamilton, and then almost going bust under Moss, we have always leased the ground from Border Breweries, Marston’s, and now Glyndwr.

Out of interest, when did Border Breweries buy the ground? And why? Or did the build it originally?

If not Border, who did buy the land and build the ground originally?

Really great health and saferty from WCBC and yet another let down by them.
Just imagine a fire and no access, actually no it doesn’t bare thinking about.

Still don’t understand why it’s just not done via compulsory purchase for the good of the club and to prevent further problems from prospective owners.
There seems to be an argument for no further development other than for the club.
From memory if you have existing access to land , it’s illegal to land lock it access has to be maintained . Somebody better qualified might be able to confirm this ?

Could have been Soames brewery before Border.

There is a lot of info on ESR's history has thread if you want to have a little look if you can find it. There is definately some info on owners of the land around 1900s.

I thought the planning on it had lapsed so wouldn't it need to got through planning again? Obviously the access would have to be addressed.

It’s not locked as access is available from Yale and MRS. I was just asking if it was the kop stand itself or the land behind it.
The wording in the article is just saying options. There is no commitment to the stand itself. The WAG want the extra land that’s all. Cynicism.

Hopefully we will get that and more in the not too distant future. If things are going to get redeveloped, you need to do it properly with an eye on future proofing things.
Or do a half arsed job now and incur more expense when things need to be improved again at a later date.

Plus take into account the possibility of internationals returning, which may or may not happen. Though better access and crowd control would remove the chance of them being used as reasons not to hold internationals at the Racecourse.
