Brian Clough
I know there are a few threads already and the general
feeling is one of frustration , Just wanted to put another spin on i The late great Mr Clough was on a re - run the other night on the Saint and Greavsie show answering questions . One was should a Chairman who appointed a Manager and then sacks him then be sacked himself? Yes said the great man, a manager is appointed by a board or a Chairman, so therefore it is also there mistake ! A wise man Mr Clough and l agree with him . To give a rookie Manager a 3 and a half year contract was absolutely ludicrous 😳😡 |
Re: Brian Clough
The late great Brian Clough was taken in by many people, as was Wrexham by one of his players Mr. Mills !!!
|
Re: Brian Clough
Taylor was the real thing. Clough was a motormouth and Leeds soon found him out.

Aye, he only won the European cup twice with Forest. |
Re: Brian Clough
The equivalent of getting Sheffield Wednesday promoted, winning the prem.
Then going to Sheffield United, getting them promoted, winning the prem and then the champions league twice. Bloody chancer that he was. |

Absolutely correct, as a player not a manager who jogged his players to the Pant as a training session. |

Ref: Peter Taylor |
Re: Brian Clough
Yeah Leeds found him out , the players would not play for him after Revie . Taylor granted spotted the players but it was together that they thrived . We are certainly not thriving and de ja vue is a word that comes to mind ,, is it just coincidence that we fall away at the end of the season ? Cynical,, maybe ! but possibly right as well .

Re: Brian Clough
Clough was much better with Taylor who was the great player spotter. But he was still pretty decent without him; Leeds was a foolish choice of club to move to after the way he had slated the players (apparently Clough wanted to replace Shanks at Liverpool and for a time was being seriously considered by the LFC board before they gave it to Paisley).
But what he did at Derby and Forest was incredible. Not sure it bears much relation to the state of Wrexham at the moment tho sadly! |
