It's something I've been saying since first of all Little scrapped them and Saunders couldn't believe how amateurish that was and re-installed them, as times gone on them have once again been disbanded and not even arranged friendlies
so inevitably players who have not had a game for weeks or months come in not match fit and fans expect them to perform outstandingly from the off.

A few examples Deverdics, Holroyd, Oswell Stockton, Tharme even Grant.

Surely Stockton, Oswell and Grant should all have been fit when they arrived if they'd been playing reserve team football or don't Morecombe, Fleetwood and Tranmere have reserve teams either.

We’re not the only club not to operate a reserves/development team. Clubs in the league don’t bother.

Who ? They all have under 23s don't they ? don't they allow 2or3 overs ?
I know that used to be the case .
Every one talks about match fitness , they come back in after injury or suspension and are expected to be up to speed !!

The Central League is still going for reserve teams although there are only 8 teams in the Northern section in which we would enter.

Not having a reserve team would have less of an impact if we had the mythical 'small high quality squad' i.e. most of the squad would be starting/coming off the bench most matches.

However as with so many other seasons we end up with a large low quality squad, with multiple players barely seeing match time for weeks/months. The money we have sat in the stand..........

A squad of 18 is way to small , that's what you are suggesting . ?

No that's what previous managers have said in pre season, then did the exact opposite and we end the season having used about 40 odd players.
