No, but around 21 would be fine to start the season. Then use loans to cover injuries or to IMPROVE the squad, not pad it out.

The quality players we need have to be landed in the summer.

Looking on both teams official websites nothing suggests they have reserve teams.

So you would still have 5 or 6 players who hardly play ? and expect them to be " MATCH " fit .

your right and the only way to be match fit is to play games, i remember playing against a Wrexham res side in the Welsh National League, with joey managing them and we were in the FL at the time, surely a side in that sort of league would be better than nothing or is there some sort of Welsh FA ruling??

Doesn’t look like Tranmere do as far as I can tell though.

Would we be able to run a b team in the welsh league? Got no idea on cost just thinking it could be a good way of scouting players in the welsh system.

Are you being obtuse on purpose?

I'm simply saying that managers keep telling the fans that they want a small high quality squad, but again and again we end up with a large low quality. How many fringe players do we have kicking their heels this season? Last season? The season before that?

The less players you have the less players are not getting game time. Losing the reserves did us no favours, as the money saved was wasted getting us exactly nowhere. A program of friendlies for our fringe/players coming back from injuries should have been organised and continued, but that seems to have disappeared as well. The whole situation is very much a symptom of how badly the football side of the club has been/continues to be run.

However if at some point one of our many managers can't recruit a small high quality squad we've got no chance of promotion anyway.
