RIP Colin Holt former Racecourse PA Announcer
 

The front page of The Leader of yesterday revealed details of the recent passing of Colin Holt, originally from Park Wall, Gwersyllt and former announcer at The Racecourse during the successful seventies era. Colin was a renowned professional singer and a former Gwersyllt CC cricketer. He will be sadly missed by all who new him. RIP Colin. I will always remember your great knock of 75 away to Prestatyn CC in 1963 and the sixes you hit into the former trotting stadium when I captained the side.

I didn't know him at all and I never comment on RP under such circumstances. However it is unusual for there to be no responses at all to your post after 2 days so I thought I'd break my rule.

Thank you eosceiriog! I have tried to amend the title of this thread to read 'RIP Colin Holt former Racecourse PA Announcer' which on reflection, may have received more responses!

Yes a nice man,at one time he was always at the racecourse. RIP

Remember him appearing at Llay Legion during the 70's good singer.

Thank you Cynprifathro for your tribute to my fantastic Uncle Colin and to everybody that has expressed their condolences on Red Passion and other social media sites.
He was a big presence in our family and he has left a huge hole, I'll miss his phone calls, they weren't so much as to ask how I was but to tell me his newest, most recent joke, we always had a laugh!
All through my life I never called him Uncle he was Colin so God bless Colin keep singing!
