Braintree were poor and there for the taking - we had the chance to score a hatful and looked marginally the better team in the first half - but alas, the margin between a team 4th in the league and the one at the bottom didn't look great. Very disappointing to concede and even more so getting to half time without a lead - better teams may have punished us more.

Second half improved - in fairness Grant probably had his best game in a red shirt today, Holroyd also did some good work and Beavon as usual challenged for everything. The introduction of Oswell and then later Jennings opened up an additional threat we had previously lacked - Jennings put some lovely crosses into the box and Oswell got his head to two of them from which he was very unfortunate not to score.

Happy with the 3 points but need to do better.

Downside was the early injury to Lawlor - the good aspect was that highly rated Kennedy slid into the centre of defence and looked totally solid and dependable.
It felt like some of the players were not "awake" during the match.

If Summerfield and Walker are fit soon they need to come in for Wright & Rutherford in midfield which will at least been we have 3 passers there.Trying not to be negative but Wright is not good enough and Rutherford would struggle against play off sides, not that he was effective today even.Sorry but there is a reason he has never played in the FL,unlike majority of our players.Would then have Beavon,Oswell and either Holroyd or Grant as front 3.Difficult choice between last 2 as despite scoring Grant missed sitters whilst abiding memory of Holroyd was colliding into defenders hoping for free kicks .At least Grant got into position where he could miss chances ,Holroyd did not do that even.

Walker has returned to Shrewsbury weeks ago and I am pretty confident we wont see him again - Summerfield very doubtful.
Again, bringing any player back from injury after a very long time out would be unwise - he wouldn't be anywhere near match fit and upto speed and with the season almost over I would think we will probably continue with what we have.
Interestingly, many were pinning our hopes on Augustien - again a player who has lacked playing time and wasn't even in today's match squad - if your not fully fit and switched on for a very demanding midfield position your likely to be found out very quickly - same old problem though is that without a reserve team how do you gain match day fitness if your a fringe player or attempting to get in the starting squad ?

First of all 3 points that's the main thing that's all we can ask for at the moment.

Secondly yet another game of going through the motions by some players.

3rdly once again Hughes changes the line up and that's half our problem, yes some out through a virus going around but we look like a team that's never played together before.

Rutherford a passenger, Holroyd had a good game but feeble at times when tackled, Wright ok he got a goal but he simply is not good enough, upfront second half we improved when Oswell came on how he isn't starting games is a mystery, he puts himself about and I feel he just needs the rub of the green a goal would boost his confidence if not for Holroyd he would of got off the mark the ball was going in when Holroyd came running in from an offside position.

Lots of players having a go at eachother at times but as said before 3 points we can't of asked for more.

Lawlor will be a loss looks like it's his season over.

Laughed at Hughes saying we are much improved this season and are progressing.

11 yrs Hughes!! its looking 2 for Leyton Orient and 1 for Salford and another year down here for us thanks to the board.

The teams we are fearing have lost against worst shite than us. I understand the lack of confidence but it's no way beyond the realm of possibility that we could grit it through the play-offs. It's hardly City vs Huddersfield.

Possibility yes, probability no.
We would need some serious good luck or a real off day from the opposition to win away at say Salford, Solihull or Orient.

Yeah, of course, but the probability isn't as far off as a massive stroke of fortune needed either. After nearly everybody has played everybody, we're still right in there even after all the shit this season. We are capable of the odd performance ourselves now and again.

Last time in the play offs we weren't expected to beat Kidderminster but won home and away. I am not building my hopes up unless we win the next four games.
