If we have a midfield 3 then they need to be comfortable with the ball, unlike Wright. Identifying players is crucial as I have stated many times. Signing Fondop was ok but not as main striker so the combination is also vital. We could have signed 3 forwards from NL north and south that would have been more effective. With Lainton, Pearson, Lawlor, Kennedy as the basis for experience we need 2 Cms and 2 forwards and then work around that with a couple of loans a COE player plus up and coming young player from NL north. Its the basics. |

Re: Ben tollit
Getting the right combination is extremely difficult - over recent seasons we have too often played a front man who has been so isolated he has become totally ineffective - hasn't mattered who it is, same end result.
For the first time on Saturday we looked to have a nice combination upfront - Grant looked a different player and combined with Holroyd & Beavon we looked better in the last third than we have for some time - granted we were playing against poor opposition. The introduction of both Oswell and Jennings added an aerial threat which up to that point had been missing - the bonus is with Jennings that he can actually get up the left flank and is about the only player who can put quality crosses into the box. It might just be that instead of chopping and changing we leave it as it is and hopefully things improve in the last third for the remaining fixtures - perhaps Oswell is being used sparingly because of his injury - only BH knows the overall situation so although some may question team selection at times (we all do) we don't know the full story regarding illness and injuries. Grant can't be as bad as some have made out - there's no doubt he has been poor but he was playing at L1 level - perhaps there is a player in there who needs coaxing out of his shell - perhaps with game time he will come good with a settled forward line around him. |

Re: Ben tollit
Looks a threat, even when he was having bad games he still needed to be focused on by the opposition. Would be great to have him back. Has the ability to beat his man, got in good goalscoring positions and had that unpredictability which can both be massively frustrating but also provide goalscoring opportunities.

Re: Ben tollit
Tollitt would be a very good signing, along with 8 other very good signings.
Hardly surprising he struggled in a team with and ineffective midfield and forward-line. Nevertheless, he was still better than most.
