The signs are not good though, are they? I don’t blame the man himself, he should never have been given the job. You could have put the names of 200 ex players into a hat and picked out somebody as well qualified to get us promoted!

At the moment the signs are confusingly mixed. We have secured a higher finish and more points since we finished second; yet....

The quality of football has generally been tedious if we are kind; dross if we are being honest; yet....

We can still - yes I know it’s highly unlikely - be promoted. Whilst we can, I recommend we support them and hope they have saved their best for the POs.

Frustrating, I know, but what else can we do?

Back to the OP topic, as the result is immaterial, then he should play a team that doesn’t include any key players. In 2013 we continued to play key players and Danny Wright was injured and missed the play offs. We’ll never know, but I’m pretty sure that Wright would have taken some of those chances in the final.

The margins are fine - if we had hung on at Chesterfield for the win instead of conceding so late, beaten Barrow at home and taken one win v Orient that would have given us a further 8 points and on Saturday we, instead of orient would be coming home to potentially lift the title - that sadly is how close we are - granted it's not pretty to watch but makes you wonder if we hadn't gone through 3 managers what might have been.

For the first time in a long time we had funds for a this January events have conspired against us yet again. Whilst i don't think we will get through the playoffs the building blocks for next season are there if we spend well on the midfield and cut the deadweight like Rutherford and Grant.
