Outside the club its easier and possibly cheaper to recruit top defenders than top strikers.

Proven, quality strikers cost big bucks.

We should sign one for next season and then take a chance on another (possibly Oswell if fit after his op), and get a good loanee.

We also need big bucks for a midfield general. None of the current lot would rise to SNCO level, let alone flying officer!

A little unfair on BH. He didn't have the January window to sign players and had to choose from loan players or free agents. His signings have mostly failed granted but that's because the club made a right cock up in January by letting GB sign players when they already knew he wanted out and he's trying to fix that. I mean WTF was that all about?
Almost all our problems link back to the January farce.

Oh and while we're here lets stop pedalling the money excuse.
We have money its just spent very badly on several poor players and having three managers in one season just makes it even worse.

Well the Jurys out on that for me. From what I have seen its not been convincing and 2 of his 3 signings already bit the dust.

Given BH has 3 year left then I assumed that it would be his first recruitment and we would have to suck it and see. However (going to say it again) if the board agree the strategy with the manager and thats the basis for recruitment it would better than the scattergun approach.

So we set the strategy as...

Current retention (8 players)
2 new CM
2 new CF
Signing Tollitt
2 new FBs
1 new utility player
Max 4 loans (midfield/forward)

Hardly rocket science is it, but a more balanced squad starts to emerge, spending can be managed and problems/issues adjusted into the strategy easier.

However, in terms of results, we achieved something we haven’t done in 6 years but the consensus is we’ve failed. It’s a strange feeling. I suppose it was the taste of honey in feb when we hit the top

Call me old fashioned and I have an idea which way I am leaning here as well/have concerns as well.

But the jury must as pagl says still be out here. I'll save my verdict and if necessary the inquest until the season is actually over and we know what the final outcome is. I'm not very optimistic either if truth be told but in knockout football you never know so let's not get too downhearted just yet.

Of course I am disappointed that, in a league without any standout teams, we have not yet achieved promotion.
However, I look back to the end of last season, the one before that, the one before that etc. when we ended up mid table without a second opportunity via the playoffs..
After this Saturday's game we need to win 3 straight matches.. one at home, 1 away and 1 at Wembley.
We are where we are and given all the changes in management let's all stop moaning.
We cannot change the past but we can continue to give our team the amazing support and encouragement that our playoff rivals can only dream of.
COYR!
