Default Re: Another season in the NFL I'm afraid

If football was a foregone conclusion no one would attend any matches.
We wouldn’t have taken a mini army to Birmingham in the Cup.
We wouldn’t have turned up to watch the Gunners at the Racecourse.
Why bother going to see the Porto game?
Fortunately, football is unpredictable. We have as good a chance as anyone to go up via the playoffs. No better & no worse.
A game could turn on a wrongly given decision or a defensive howler or a strikers miss of the century.
I can’t predict that we’ll make it but I know that 22 players entering that pitch will be as determined as each other to achieve the same result. Someone has to win & someone has to lose.
Of course I hope we do it. But is it the end of the world if we don’t? Hell no. Your fit, healthy, have a good family. All that happens is we go through the trials & tribulations of non league for at least another season, we don’t have to endure the unendurable as Hirohito said . . . . .

All we needed to do was sign kennedy and Tollitt. And use the loan market to cover injuries etc.
The club was under fans' pressure to sign player in the January window.
Had they not signed anybody, there would have been universal condemnation.

Instead, they signed players who - for one reason or another - have not met with the expectations of either the club or the fans, and there is still universal condemnation.

Damned if they did, damned if they didn't.

I'm not at all sure how any manager or coach (or Board of Directors) can guarantee the future performance of a player or players at this level. There were some successful signings at one or two other clubs, but they were the exception rather than the rule.

If those who were signed didn't show on the Nine Acre that they were capable of improving our team performances, irrespective of their past histories, then playing them would make no sense whatsoever.

This isn't to suggest that I'm at all happy with our performances since the January window opened, it's simply the way the cookie crumbles in the circumstances.

Wrong when you sign players at the time we did, they have to be fit to play not carrying injuries ffs, did they have a medical?? its not panic signing its sheer stupidity, there are 92 league clubs and a whole lot more nonleague clubs and we couldnt find any players apart from injured ones, total rubbish

Yeah.

The club missed out on Lawrence then appointed a man would didn't want it. Then giving cash to him in January when he was already running for the exit (unknown to the fans) was always going to be a recipe for success.

Oh yes, then appointing a young manager who failed in his only other management job, and hadn't managed for the 4 years since.

Just circumstances working against us, again.

Depends if the circumstances were explained. Once they knew the manager wanted out he should have been gone. A bit of truth and transparency would have gone a long way in fans eyes.
