That was why we couldn’t get Cheek. Relocation from London area isn’t cheap plus it’s convincing a player to up sticks.

Nobody is bothered that we won a league title 41 years ago. Most only care if you pay them a tenner extra a week.

It’s all about the money. The overall contract length, value and bonuses available, plus signing on fees.
Players agents also have to get their cut, otherwise, no deal.

The better players, the ones who can finish in the top corner from the edge of the area or beat a couple of players and score consistently, will demand far greater deals than we are able or willing to offer.
