As much as I think Salford and Solihull are better overall than ourselves, I can’t help but be excited that this our year. We were a far better team than Luton in the 98pt season but they did a job on us so just shows that season performance means little.

The 98pt team ( in theory) would tear strips off this current team, but, they flopped, badly. We know the weaknesses of this team, everybody does, and whilst it's strengths are nowhere near as sexy they are still mighty fine strengths to be taking into knockout football. I can't recall any team winning the play offs in this league with sexy free scoring football but I can recall a few dogs.

I'm holding my optimism back as much as possible. I will not let it free until we are three up in added time at Wembley. Experience.

I'd fancy us this time if we reached Wembley as we'd have beaten Salford in their back yard and that would do wonders for confidence.

We need to not slip up v Eastleigh 1st in a match we are rightly favourites for and then see what happens.

It may be that the negative nellies just arent posting at the moment but it's great to read so much optimism and as some have said what's the point in not throwing yourself into this now, the time for sniping, if at all, is in a week or so if we get knocked out.

Depends how much added time. Remember Blackpool?

Much like Kiddy we’re better than us in 2013.

Hopefully we can rely on some of our “streetwise” players like Pearson, Summerfield, Jennings plus the likes of carrington has played in big games for us. When we beat Kiddy, we were better prepared than them for the occasion similarly Luton were better prepared when they beat us.

I've never been a fan of the play offs personally even though I understand the excitement for the fans of the teams in them, for me the season is a marathon if a team finishes second in our league for E:G they have earned it so a team that could finish say 10 points behind in 7th could win promotion on the back of 3 games.

When Mills the Cloughy fan won promotion with York they were a long way behind us.

They don't have play offs at the top of the Premier, imagine the outcry if the teams from 4th down to 7th had to play off for the 4th place Champions league place E:G say it was Everton and they're finished 10+ points behind 4th place.

As I said I understand the excitement for the fans but in reality it's grossly unfair on the teams up there on Merit after a long hard season.

when the idea of play-offs was first introduced I thought it was a shocking idea too but I have grown to love them despite their unfairness. It means a season stays alive for more teams for longer. I remember the days when one team would establish a massive lead and the league was just plain boring for everybody else after Christmas. They are a lottery though.
