I for one would greatly respect Spencer and co for saying this is what we got wrong and this is how we are aiming to put it right. I wouldn't count on it happening but if they dont I fear the divisions between club and certain fans will become wider. I'll always go and watch them when they play locally to but if a few hundred stop renewing season tickets it's going to be a big self perpetuating problem as we really will be stuck in this league then.
For obvious reasons we don’t expect everything to be put in the public domain, but considering it’s supposed to be a fans owned club, there is certainly a lack of transparency, and like you I would appreciate that sort of statement.

How do you know that? Why do people keep saying this? I agree with a lot of what you said apart from that.

The board are the problem here, they lurch from one disaster to another from PR cock ups, patronising statements, withholding information and releasing it to fans to cover their own blunders, managerial appointments that make no sense (we had two this season in the space of a few weeks - jaw dropping stuff) and yet STILL some people indulge them as if they are gods.

Agreed. Askey wanted to come and won the league just last year with a team with a lower budget than us. Ticks every box except the 'puppet for Spencer and Darlington' so we went for a foot golf coach instead. Makes sense!

Askey did not want Darlington forced on him.

The damage keeping him will do is worse than the short term financial dip in paying him off. The board would be naive not to start fresh this summer and bring in a new management team.

I don't think he's up to it and I've had a belly full of Darlington's anti football and stats.

Now the season is over, can anybody answer me this? How in god's name did we end up with him in the first place? I mean, we've had previous left field appointments which you could make a case for and even Lawrence (not for me) had a case, but Hughes. Was it a lazy appointment, a clique appointment or is there something that he offers that I'm just not seeing, like a dossier of non league football that he's been keeping under his pillow for the years.

Couldn't agree more - not a rookie - fair bit of experience of this league and has taken a team to promotion.

Not sure what the board has against him unless he cost too much!

BH came in with the intention of changing our style to more attacking, you don't need to be a good manager to see where our problems lie. After a few formation changes it was apparent that we simply do not have the players to play any other way than the dire defensive Darlington way. I'm sure BH is as frustrated by this as anyone and will be aware he pretty much needs to start again in the summer. Will the board back him financially to such an extent? Probably not. He's probably sat in his office now thinking of a three / four year plan of getting out of this league.

As for Darlington, no football experience, not liked by the players, not rated by any management staff, picks his own boss, working part time, on a ridiculous wage and if anyone noticed.....spent a lot more time on the touchline last night with the TV cameras on him. His whole continued appointment at this club is simply pathetic.
