That will be the biggest indicator to me of the reality of how the proverbial dressing room is.
I don't think Lainton leaving will indicate the mood of the dressing room as he has never indicated he will stay. If the skipper goes then that's different.
Not if we get 3 or 4 quality players and 2 or 3 good prospects then we could/should take another step forward, instead of relying heavily on signing a dozen new players and hoping it all comes right.
Holroyd,Roberts and Rutherford have done nothing this season to deserve new deals. They are bottom half conference or conf north players.

But they all played regularly for the team who finished 4th and contributed as much as any other player.. Whether we can get better is another matter, but we need a minimum of 18 senior and total of around 20 players so we don't need to replace too many. BH will know the key areas where he needs to improve and which players he needs to release to help finance the extra quality. It's up to BH but Rutherford for one deserves a deal, he is dependable, plays his heart out and a good variation to someone like Tollit who is more of a match winner but lacking Rutherford's consistency.

Is 5 assists, 1 goal in 44 appearances consistent now? Fair play we really have fallen, our fans really have accepted mediocrity now.

Re: Retained list

How many goals did Rutherford score ?
How many assists or specifically assists against top half sides ?
Look at his stats and they do not lie.If we are serious about going for the playoffs we need better.
We did finish 4th but could so easily have been 10th or 11 th given the number of 1-0s got away with.

Its not about accepting mediocracy. You were saying that about Carrington but we have seen his value to the squad and the first team.

We finished closer to 1st than 10th not only in positions but much closer by points.

Farringdon is the most consistent play in the squad but he doesn’t play in an attacking position, Rutherford’s contribution is dreadful
